Disco Remixes Of Young Thug Are A Thing

We have someone called Amherst to blame/thank.

None

Someone called Amherst has a new EP out right now and its contents may give you pause for thought. Instead of the usual dance remixes that modern hip-hop so often inspires, Amherst has decided to take advantage of current hip-hop (Young Thug in particular) and its emphasis on melody to create a series of disco remixes. Titled Disco Thuggin, the EP features four disco bootlegs of Young Thug classics: "Givenchy", "Danny Glover", "About The Money" and "Lifestyle". His habit of making disco remixes out of thuggish rap tunes started with Future's "Honest", when he was studying for his finals at university.

In an interview with Thump, Amherst expressed his desire to make a disco remix of Rich Homie Quan and also said that "iLoveMakonnen would sound really good as the singer in a post-punk band," but added: "I'm not trying to make that EP anytime soon." You can find Amherst's full Disco Thuggin EP over on Bandcamp, and you can stream his remix of Young Thug's "Givenchy" below.
