D'Angelo made his debut Saturday Night Live performance last night to perform two songs off of his latest album, Black Messiah. Accompanied by his backing band The Vanguard, D'Angelo wore a hoodie to salute Trayvon Martin and the Vanguard all had on shirts that read "Black Lives Matter" and "I Can't Breathe," a tribute to Eric Garner. He performed "Really Love" and "The Charade," off of his latest album.
D'Angelo and the Vanguard will perform Black Messiah at Harlem's Apollo Theater on Feb. 7, before heading on a month-long European tour.
