While "Faded," the lead single from ZHU's NightDay EP, has been in our collective conscience since March (and available for purchase since September), it's only just topped Billboard's Dance Club Songs chart. While I'd love to say that it's because the song is just that damn good (which it is), Billboard says it's been helped by the number of remixes from Odesza, Amtrac, and The Magician... surprisingly, they left out the immaculate Lido remix, but I'd say that a number of way more recent factors kicked in.
First, the song just got a Grammy nomination. We've seen that Grammy wins can immediately boost sales of a song, so it's not hard to think that people who may have forgotten the track—or more importantly, those who just heard of it—started playing it to either a) figure out what the fuss was all about or b) just revel in one of their favorite producers getting some major props. Secondly, and probably more accurate, THERE WAS JUST A RIDICULOUS FIASCO WHERE EDM TWITTER THOUGHT SKRILLEX WAS ZHU. Pardon my caps. Did Billboard forget the changes they made to their charts? The ones that propelled Baauer's "Harlem Shake" to #1? It can't be that hard to consider that the recent upswing in ZHU talk, steeped in this idea that the "mysterious" / "anonymous" producer was some how Skrillex, was the cause of more plays on "Faded," right?

In other EDM Billboard news, Avicii's "The Nights" hit #12 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. For those wondering who sang on "The Nights," it's Salem Al Fakir, who also sang on "You Make Me." Alesso's "Heroes (We Could Be)" hit #1 on the Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart, which makes sense. This song is not only blowing up, but was also powered but a solid remix EP featuring new takes from Grandtheft, Amtrac, and Branchez. And finally, the fifth song from Tiesto's A Town Called Paradise hit the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, with "Light Years Away" rocking the 23rd spot.
