On Friday, hip-hop, R&B and funk band Phony Ppl resurfaced with the premiere of their new video and song titled “End of the niGht.” The video begins with a swirling image of Van Gogh’s Starry Night laced with an enchanting violin track and then the party starts. The band is vibing out at a summer backyard barbecue while everybody gets trippy off of a sus hunch punch. In the midst of the Elbee Three’s crooning and Sheriff PJ spitting his verse in a shorty’s ear, funky kaleidoscope effects turn the backyard into a psychedelic function.

Phony Ppl has been on the indie radar for some time now gaining attention from touring with artists like Theophilus London, Erykah Badu and The Roots. A new project has been highly anticipated as it’s been a little while since their last band album NothinG special dropped back in 2012. The “End of the Night.” single gives a glimpse into their growth and the sound for their upcoming album Yesterday’s Tomorrow that is set to be released on Jan. 13th. In the meantime, get into the “End of the Night” vibes above.
