Nate Fox, who has handled production for the likes of Chance The Rapper and Lil Wayne, has teamed up with Rami Beatz for a hip-hop-leaning remix of the new single from Joywave: "Tongues". The original, an electro indie number not unlike Animal Collective or Hot Chip, has been sliced up and warped into a trappy, glitch-hop number. Most of the original elements are in tact, though Fox and Beatz add some stuttering percussion and a breakdown that borders on the polyrhythmic. Showing off the duo's dexterity, the remix jumps between electro, house, trap and glitch-hop without ever becoming jarring. It's quite rare that an indie song is given a drop like this without it becoming a noisy "EDM" mess, so let's all be grateful of that.
