Pharrell has done just about everything you can imagine in 2014, but he isn't planning on slowing down yet, as today it was announced that he has been named to the Board of Directors for the historic Apollo Theater. Skateboard P was one of six individuals named to the prestigious Board of Directors today that also includes New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, Jason L. Matthews, Carolyn Minick Mason, Charles Phillips, and Bronson van Wyck.

Earlier this year, Pharrell performed for the first time ever at the legendary Apollo Theater, with an epic set that was directed by Spike Lee. These six new members will now join the 32 previous members on the Board, which serves as the guiding force that drives the development of the theater through strategic planning, education and fundraising.

“I couldn’t be more pleased to welcome these six individuals to the Apollo Board. It is such a wonderfully diverse group of professionals, each representing the very best in their respective fields. They all understand the incredible legacy of the Apollo’s contributions to American culture and are equally committed to investing in its future,” said Richard Parsons, Chairman of the Apollo Theater’s Board of Directors. “I know that the collective knowledge and insight of these new Board members will be a wonderful and valuable addition as we guide the Theater forward.”

“As a cultural and economic anchor for the Harlem community, and a driving force for shaping so many up-and-coming artists today, we rely on the visionary leadership of our Board of Directors to help ensure we fulfill every aspect of our mission,” said Jonelle Procope, President and CEO of the Apollo Theater. “We are so pleased to welcome Bob, Jason, Carolyn, Charles, Pharrell, and Bronson to our Board of distinguished leaders.”

More information about the Apollo's current initiatives and upcoming events, which includes the Apollo's first ever international tour for the original production of "James Brown: Get on the Good Foot," can be viewed at their official website here.
