Julio Bashmore's genre-defining tracks like "Battle For Middle You" and "Au Seve", while hugely successful for the young producer, set his own creative bar so high he was inevitably going to struggle to maintain. While you might argue his last track, "Simple Love", was a misstep, Bashmore's determined to prove the world wrong with his new one, "Rhythm of Auld". Bringing back vocalist J'Danna, the Bristolian plunges headlong into the history of disco, pillaging, sampling and paying homage to the slick grooves and over-the-top vocals that came to define the genre in the '70s. This all comes in the wake of the hugely welcome announcement that February 2015 would finally see a debut album from the deep house purveyor.
