Listen to Breakage's "Treading Water" f/ Detour City

Out on December 1.

It seems a lot longer since we had an album from Breakage, but we've crunched some numbers and it turns out it actually was just four years ago. These days, however, that's a lifetime, especially when that last album featured a standout partnership with the Banksy of electronica, Burial. Originally known for inhabiting the especially darkest crevices of drum & bass in the early-00s, Breakage has since made a name for himself exploring the darker sides of grime, dubstep, and even a bit of pop.

The latest to be heard from James Boyle is "Treading Water", a beatless wave of sounds featuring vocals from Detour City. As ever, his trademark brooding, techno-inspired bleakness is all present and correct, albeit noticeably lacking in percussion or a drop. This must surely be the least aggressive production Boyle has ever put his name to. "Treading Water" will be released on December 1 through Digital Soundboy. Listen below.
