Riton has been consistently bashing out some of the UK's finest house and techno for a few years now, but it appears 2014 has been getting better and better for the young producer. A massively well-received collaboration with vocalist Meleka and some standout releases for Parisian party-starters Ed Banger (as well as his own Battle Weapons imprint), have all kept Henry Smithson at the forefront of the blogging world and relevant in the world of dance.
I Am The Whisper, Riton's new EP, is a slightly darker affair than you might expect, straying further into the realms of late-night techno whilst still incorporating his usual electro beats, with more than a hint of acid synths and a driving beat to keep the die-hard techno heads dancing; all this is peppered with a spoken word mission statement from London-based vocalist, Molly Beanland. I Am The Whisper is out now via OWSLA's newish sub-label, Nest—the parent label's hub for the late night side of dance music.
