Premiere: Stream Seinabo Sey's "Pistols At Dawn"

Seinabo Sey has stuff to say.

None

Growing up in a chaotic but creative household in Gambia, before moving to Sweden, the daughter of renowned West African musician, Mawdo Sey—Seinabo Sey—blends these disparate influences to create something entirely her own: a mix of upbeat pop and socially-conscious soul. Commenting on her eclectic upbringing, she says: "I’ve had to live between two different cultures where you don’t really feel you belong anywhere and you have to understand people first to make them understand you."

Her breakout single, "Hard Time" stormed its way up to the top of the charts for Spotify, Shazam and Hype Machine, and now, she's following this up with a politically-minded cut from her October 13-landing For Madeleine EP, entitled "Pistols At Dawn". It's designed to keep your feet moving and your mind working, and is a direct response, she says, to "immediately disposable pop music." Listen to the Complex UK premiere of "Pistols At Down", after the jump. You can also catch Miss. Sey live in London at The Basement, Editions Hotel, on October 16.
