Listen to Joy Orbison's Deep Techno Remix of Jungle's "The Heat"

Joy O rolls out the techno for XL Recordings' alt-pop outfit.

Jungle

Joy Orbison doesn't just remix anybody. Remixes from the young techno wizard are few and far between—clearly a sign of a discerning producer who favours quality over quantity—so when he does remix a track, you know he means business. Taking on remix duties for Jungle's current single, "The Heat", Joy O swaps the new wave New York cool of the original for a harsher techno vibe.

As with his own productions, it's Joy O's percussion that stands out; big, chest-rattling drums that drive the track along underneath brief slices of the original melody. The original isn't easily recognisable here until around the 3-minute mark, when we start to hear hints of the gliding vocals which have made it a favourite of pretty much every DJ and music journo across the land. From there, Joy O builds and builds, gradually phasing the different elements in and out, before dropping everything but the disembodied "Feel The Heat" sample and the reverberating melody.

Epic remix aside, Jungle have also announced a 2015 UK tour. Full dates can be seen after the stream below.
