Denai Moore Follows SBTRKT Collaboration With New Track, "I Swore"

Denai Moore—who you may remember from her guest appearance on SBTRKT's "The Light"—has launched her impending EP, I Swore, by unleashing the eponymous track for your streaming pleasure. Shrewdly, Moore has drafted in Rodaidh McDonald to handle production duties (in place of Ben "Plan B" Drew who handled production on her first two EPs), having proven himself beyond question with Sampha, The xx, King Krule and the legend that is Bobby Womack.

Adding that same left-of-centre soul vibe that McDonald's become known for goes along way to supporting Denai's soft and intimate vocal style. The lead track in question features a rather simple arrangement of sparse, shimmering piano chords underneath a particularly haunting turn from the young Stratford-based singer. With her acoustically-minded, lo-fi ballads, it's no wonder SBTRKT has given her the support slot on his current tour—adding a folk-like yin to SBTRKT's bass-fuelled yang. Denai Moore's I Swore EP is out on November 24.
