Le Youth is someone who's definitely had my ear in 2014. His single, "Dance With Me" with Dominique Young Unique, has been a bonafied staple of my DJ sets since it landed on my hard drive. News comes now of a new single, "Girl," dropping September 22 on Spinnin Deep. While it may be a producer who's associated with the "deep" house movement, this single is actually far from anything chill or very laid back at all. This is an instant funky house gem that's got potential to be a full blown banger in the club when dropped in the right context. "Girl" is chocked full of bouncy basslines and a borderline garage feel to the percussion. Whatever Spinnin is trying to do with the Deep offshoot is fairly irrelevant as most folks are confused as to what deep house really is at this point. I'll save that debate for probably never and just give this little slice of fuego two thumbs way up.
