Fade to Mind Records-affiliated indie pop chanteuse Kelela has cut a most unique swath through 2014. On the heels of her 2013-released album-as-mixtape CUT 4 ME, she's certainly increased her level of awareness by mainstream pop-familiar ears, and with her seductive, smoldering and new club-friendly R & B single "OICU" continuing in that expectation. A collaboration with feisty rap vocalist Le1f and produced by DC-to-KC-to-LA producer P. Morris, it continues in the expectation set by CUT 4 ME's "Go All Night (Let It Burn)," another kush-ember torch song for the THC-enabled lovelorn in many of us in the current generation. Bearing cover art designed by Los Angeles-based designer (of pieces including Lady Gaga's infamous meat dress) Franc Fernandez, it's a wholly futuristic journey into the bass-laden future of rhythm and blues.
