We recently got a chance to talk with Danny Brown on the set of his new music video for "Smokin & Drinkin," off of last year's album, Old. The rest of the Bruiser Brigade was hanging around so we took the opportunity to ask Brown about their new project, which he calls a true "group album," calling back to the days of Wu-Tang Clan and Mobb Deep. He also talked about it being a return to the essence of what hip-hop means to him, and about getting a group to gel together to put out an album.
Elsewhere, he spoke of his Twitter beef with French Montana, and about why he thinks "non-lyrical rap" is hurting the future of hip-hop. For Brown, it's all about teaching the kids the value in being a good rapper before stepping into the ring with the big boys.
Peep the interview above, and keep an eye out for the "Smokin & Drinkin" music video, coming soon.
