While Joey Bada$$ has called Brooklyn home ever since he was born in 1995, his family origins are deeply rooted in the Caribbean. St. Lucia to be exact, a small island country that boasts a modest population of 180,000 to Brooklyn's 2.5 million. In Joey's "Gone Home" video diary the 18-year-old rapper travels to his family's home country and learns a little bit about himself along the way.

"When we was leaving to go back to home, I was like, 'Damn, I'm leaving home'" he playfully says of his experience in St. Lucia, which was also chronicled in his latest music video "My Yout (Remix)." Joey visits a number of spots throughout his trek and connects with the youth. Clearly his impact has travelled well. "The best feeling about it all is when people come up to me and tell me, 'Yo, you really changed my life'" he recalls. Watch the full clip above where Joey also meets his grandfather for the first time in his life. It's a special moment for the rising MC.
