Mack Maine Says He Isn't Sure Who Tweeted for Lil Wayne on Friday

Wayne is recovering.

On Friday night, it was speculated that Lil Wayne was about to die. According to TMZ, the New Orleans rapper was supposedly in a medically induced coma and given his last rites. Soon after TMZ's story, Wayne's friend Mack Maine tweeted that Wayne was "alive and well," and that they were watching the Syracuse basketball game.

Then, in what seemed to quell the rumors and the Internet hype, Wayne supposedly sent out this tweet to say that he's "good." But in an interview with XXL, Mack Maine says he's unsure who actually sent out Friday evening's tweet on Wayne's behalf. Mack couldn't confirm whether it was a Wayne affiliate or a regular fan, he told XXL.

“That tweet [that he sent out on Friday] wasn’t sent out on that same phone line,” Mack continued. “I’m not sure if he tweeted that or not. I wasn’t with him at the present moment. One of his fans could have tweeted that, I’m not really sure where that came from.”

It's also unclear if Wayne's tweet even originated from the hospital.
