The worlds of music and professional skateboarding have come together for a special fundraiser. The brainchild of Ben Harper and Tony Hawk, the Boards + Bands project uses old boards from legendary skaters like hawk and gives them new life by writing lyrics by artists like Harper upon them. The boards are then auctioned off to raise funds to build skate parks to provide a positive activity for youths.

Other musicians on board include Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Jimmy Cliff, Metallica and the late Adam Yauch and other skaters include Bucky Sasek, Steve Caballero, Bob Burnquist, Mike Vallely, Lance MountainRodney Mullen and Jamie Thomas. The boards, including the above collaboration between Hawk and McCartney, go up for auction on eBay December 3 and will be on display in Los Angeles’ Grammy Museum until the end of the auction.
