Queen Latifah gave a huge salute to the gay community during her appearance at the 29th Annual Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride Festival. Serving as the headliner, she took the stage performing hits such as “U.N.I.T.Y” and “Ladies First.”

Latifah was full of energy and vibrancy as she told the crowd that she has “been waiting to do this for a long time," and then added she was proud to be among “her people.” There have been rumors about Latifah's homosexuality for years, and it meant a lot to fans and the gay community to have her come out and show such strong support. Watch the full performance and some thoughtful words about Latifah from the concert-goers below.
