There's been a lot of speculation about a new album from The Killers coming this year, and today lead singer Brandon Flowers has confirmed with BBC that the album is definitely happening in 2012.

The band's last album, Day & Age, was released in 2008, and since the beginning of 2010 they've been on a hiatus, staying off the stage and out of the spotight. "It's just exciting getting everyone in the room to make some noise," the singer told Zane Lowe. "It's quite a bit louder than with my solo thing, so I've got to get used to that."

Of the new material, Flowers explains, "I think the consensus within the band is to take those things that we've done well and really hone in on that. We don't want to make Hot Fuss 2 or Sam's Town 2, or Day & Age 2. We'll maybe take all that stuff, the best of all of it and do what we know how to do."
