Story of The Week: Jimmy Henchman Associate Admits To Role In 1994 Tupac Shooting
Wednesday, an incarcerated man named Dexter Isaac released a statement to AllHipHop.com where he confessesed to being involved in the shooting and robbing of Tupac Shakur on November 30th, 1994 after being paid $2,500 by James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond. He also claimed he still has some of the jewelery confiscated that night and implied that Sean “Diddy” Combs was also involved in the plot. As Miss Info pointed out, contrary to popular belief, Isaac never admits to shooting Tupac, only to having a role in the crime.
The admission comes after Isaac was angered by Rosemond accusing Isaac of being a federal informant in May. Isaac says his motive to come forward after 13 years is to bring closure to Afeni Shakur and Voletta Wallace, which he said he will do “at a different time.” Due to a statute of limitations, Isaac can no longer be charged for his involvement in the shooting. Yesterday would have been Tupac’s 40th birthday.
Song of The Week: Nas “Nasty”
The Queensbridge rapper’s first single off of his upcoming album Life Is Good (though that title may change) is reminiscent of earlier Nas. Over the Salaam Remi beat, he mixes his regains his hunger with slick talk and braggadocio, boasting at the end, “Make room for the king.” If his upcoming album is full of songs like this, life will definitely be good.

With “600 Benz” Wale had the streets buzzing for weeks. Now the Rick Ross featured hit finally has a visual (which Complex debuted!) to continue the Maybach Music Group’s assault on the Internet. The Spiff TV-directed video is pretty much all-black-everything, save for the Miami Heat hat that Ross dons throughout. Folarin’s definitely winning with this one. As for the Heat? Well, maybe next year.
Win of The Week / Fail of The Week
Tech N9ne’sAll 6’s And 7’s album debuted selling 56,000 copies this week, good enough to thrust him into the 4-spot in album sales. The total is Tech N9ne’s highest-charting first week to date, and is a testament to the grassroots marketing of his independent Strange Music label. Congrats to him.
On the losing end was Cash Money Records’ own Birdman and Lil Wayne, who were sued for the third time in two weeks. This time Bridgeport Music has filed a lawsuit regarding the 1971 Funkadelic track “You And Your Folks, Me And My Folks” citing wrongful sampling on the song “Army Gunz,” which appeared on Birdman and Lil Wayne’s Like Father Like Son album in 2006. The suit comes just after unpaid royalty suits were also filed by producers David Kirkwood and Play-N-Skillz. No wonder Birdman had $2 million laying around to bet on the Miami Heat winning the NBA finals...
