This week a member of Cali Swag District passed away, Drake dropped some heat, and Tyler, The Creator's album debuted at number five.

Story of The Week: M-Bone of Cali Swag District Was Fatally Shot

In a sad turn of events, Cali Swag District member Mante "M-Bone" Talbert was killed in a drive-by shooting outside of a liquor store in Inglewood, California Sunday night. Since his passing, details have surfaced by way of Talbert's girlfriend that point to a jealous neighbor as a possible suspect. As of this time no arrests have been made. Our prayers go out to Talbert’s family and close friends. Rest In Peace.

Song of The Week: DRake "Dreams Money Can Buy"

Produced by Drake’s right hand man, Noah “40” Shebib, this track coupled with his recent appearances on DJ Khaled’s “I’m On One” and SBTRKT’s “Wildfire,” have the streets excited about what Drizzy’s got up his sleeve for Take Care. This was originally thought to be the album’s single but Drake claims it's not his single and just apart of his story.

We already knew Gwyneth Paltrow was a hip-hop fan after she interviewed her old pal Jay-Z last month. What we didn’t know is that she could recite one of Ice Cube’s classic N.W.A. verses word-for-word. Still we hope she sticks to singing on her Atlantic debut, but it left us wondering just how many of today’s rappers could actually recite that verse? Hmmm...

Win of The Week / Fail of The Week

hechmen cocaine

If you thought two-months after hitting the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart that someone would have ousted Adele by now, you thought wrong. The UK singer, who has already sold 1.7 million copies of her album 21, has been number one for eight consecutive weeks. That hasn’t been done since Taylor Swift’s run back in 2009. On the losing end this week was record industry exec Jimmy Henchman. Word spread on Tuesday that the Czar Entertainment owner was linked to a cocaine distribution operation, and that a warrant had been issued for his arrest. The story is still developing. Hopefully Jimmy’s got a good lawyer to beat this case. Either that, or a plane ticket to Yemen.

Quote of The Week: Chris Brown admits to sharting on stage
open quote marks

I just remember dancing and onstage in the midst of all that, [and] I … sharted? The crowd didn’t know it, and I had like an outfit change coming up, so I said, ‘Yeah, I can hold it out one more song,’ and this is real disgusting and too descriptive, it was just … I just remember it running down my leg.

Amidst all the hype and hoopla, how much Tyler, The Creator had connected with his fans was evident when his first week sales numbers were finalized at 45,100 units. That’s a huge win for the Clancys and the rest of Odd Future, as it was a big enough number to thrust Tyler into the fifth spot in album sales this week. The Wolf Gang’s killing everything, so maybe it’s a good thing that the end of the world is this weekend. Oh, you didn’t know?
