A pair of homeowners will have the very pleasurable experience of dealing with their insurance companies after a sinkhole (that's still growing, mind you) swallowed their homes on Friday morning. This unfortunate occurrence, like a lot of unfortunate occurrences, happened in Florida. Specifically, Land O' Lakes, Florida.
No injuries have been reported.
According to the local sheriff's office, the sinkhole began as a depression around 7:30 a.m. on Friday. At the time it was the size of a swimming pool, and was in the midst of swallowing a boat that was on one of the properties. Since then it's grown to more than 200 feet wide and 50 feet deep.
Officials, who are worried it could reach a nearby lake, have understandably evacuated several homes in the neighborhood. These pictures should illustrate why:
Mother nature doesn't mess around.
