A California woman was called a "bitch" and a "fucking Cambodian n*****" by a white motorist while cycling with her nine-year-old daughter Thursday. Paula Nuguid said on Facebook that she was trying to turn left when the unidentified driver started honking his car horn, at which point she confronted the driver for attempting to intimidate them.
"This white guy thought it would be okay to honk at me and call me a bitch as I was making a legal left turn," Nuguid said. "When I confronted him about using his two-ton vehicle to intimidate my nine-year-old daughter and me, he called me a Cambodian n-word. I hope his friends, family, and employer see this."
In footage of the incident, shared by Nuguid Thursday, the driver is seen disputing the legality of Nuguid's previous right turn. "That was an illegal right turn," he says in the one-minute clip. In a follow-up post, Nuguid clarified that her turn was, in fact, legal. "His claim I made an illegal right is absurd," she wrote. "I was traveling east in the bike lane on Evelyn Ave and the light was green as I turned right."
In a Raw Storyinterview about the incident, which occurred in the Silicon Valley-area city of Sunnyvale, Nuguid said she and her nine-year-old daughter cried following the racist spewings. This was also not the first time she had been "racially harassed by a white man," Nuguid added.
In the hours since posting the video, Nuguid has shared an excerpt of some of the baffling reactions she's received. For example, one Facebook user wrote Nuguid a lengthy message arguing that she hates white people and behaved in a "racist and hateful" manner in footage of the incident. That, of course, doesn't make any sense.
