It seems that shorts were specifically designed to keep our lower halves cool during the summer, so it also seems counterintuitive to sweat your sack off in some pants during the warmer months, no? With that idea in mind, 20-year-old English call center worker/pioneer Joey Barge put aside his slacks to sports some shorts to work earlier this week because temperatures were set to hit the 90s. Sadly, instead of a gentle breeze blowing up his leg he got told by boss to go home and change. Naturally, he cataloged the saga on his Twitter account making it super easy to both set up and follow:
I'm not 100 percent sure why it matters what you wear to a call center, but rules are rules. It's not my company. Anyway, Barge returned home and swapped his shorts for one of his mom's dresses because, as he told The Daily Mirror, "The office is so hot and I sweat so much and feel uncomfortable. I’m fuming. A quarter of the office are wearing vest tops and skirts/dresses."
Barge seemed to realize that this would get him sent home. But, as those of you who have had to work in a call center probably know, there are worse fates.
Speaking of fate, in a rare twist, Joey appears to have gotten the company dress code changed to allow for 3/4th length shorts:
Guess you take what you can get. Next thing to push for sounds like air conditioning.
