Say hello to Picasso, a 10-month-old pitbull-terrier mix with a rare facial deformity. As Liesl Wilhardt—the executive director of the Luvable Dog Rescue in Eugene, Oregon—told Huffington Post, Picasso is 100 percent healthy, but he looks a lot different than other dogs. "His jaw is fine, the deformity is in the top part of his nose," she said. "The jaw hinge is not deformed. He can open it normally.”
As Picasso's story goes, he was one of the unsellable puppies from a litter of five that a backyard breeder gave to a shelter in Porterville, California. Both Picasso and his sibling Pablo were set to be euthanized, but Wilhardt was looking for dogs to take off of the shelter's hands and saved the pups after "falling in love" with a photo of them.
This apparently went down two weeks ago, and since then, Picasso has gone viral, catching all kinds of love for his unique look on Instagram.
According to Wilhardt, Picasso's deformity means that he eats sideways and is a "very messy eater." He also has a misaligned upper canine that digs into his lower jaw, but that tooth is going to be removed.
Once that happens, Wilhardt plans on putting Picasso and his brother Pablo up for adoption as a duo, and it doesn't sounds like it's going to be hard to find a happy home for this "luvable" pair. According to Huffington Post, there are already hundreds of people interested in adopting them. And it's not difficult to see why.
