Kids Are Trolling Their Parents With Explicit Language for the #HellChallenge

The #HellChallenge is quite possibly the most important challenge yet.

Smart people use a lot of fucking profanity. Sorry, Mom. Still, there would appear to be some debate as to the profanity status of the word "hell." Is it a dirty word? Is it a cave-like location full of devils and heat and ragged clothing? Is it Instagram? To put this inquiry to the ultimate test, a new challenge has been born: the #HellChallenge.

The challenge consists of one person, usually of the younger variety, approaching an adult (typically their parents) with a very simple question: Is "hell" a cuss word? Regardless of how the adult responds, the instigator's follow-up must entail repeated uses of "hell" in a profanity-like capacity.

A popular variation on the challenge is to just bust out the question in the middle of class:

Greater knowledge of profanity, as suggested by a recent study, can be linked to "an increase of your IQ." A study cited by the Independent last August found that those who could name the most examples of profanity within a minute also tend to perform better on an IQ test. "A folk assumption about colloquial speech is that taboo words are used because speakers cannot find better words with which to express themselves: because speakers lack vocabulary," study authors stated. That assumption was directly challenged by the study's findings, which supported the "fluency-is-fluency" hypothesis instead.

With that in mind, when can we expect a real challenge? I'm thinking either a #FuckChallenge or a #ShitChallenge should be next.
