For anyone who isn't the owner of a hugely profitable internet service provider, the House of Representatives' 215-205 vote to shit all over internet privacy protections is bad news. According to a White House statement released Tuesday, Trump is now expected to sign the bill into law. That is also bad news. So what do we do now? One of the guys behind Cards Against Humanity has a plan:

Max Temkin, who previously fought the good fight by sending a 55-gallon drum of personal lubricant to the Oregon Militia, issued his promise prior to this week's bullshit vote. In subsequent tweets, Temkin added that there's "not going to be a fucking Kickstarter" for this effort, as such data does not presently exist. "If and when the data is available, we'll buy it and publish it publicly," he explained.

Likely hurdles aside, Temkin isn't the only one pondering the purchase and publication of Congress members' browser histories. Multiple crowdfunding campaigns have been launched in the vote's wake, including one from Supernatural star Misha Collins. At the time of this writing, Collins' GoFundMe campaign had raised over $70,000 with a final goal of $500 million. Still, many—including Temkin—have advised against prematurely dumping money into these efforts.

The vote has been roundly criticized for its privacy implications. On Wednesday's Late Show, Stephen Colbert spoke candidly on what the vote reveals about the disconnect between D.C. and actual human people. "This is what's wrong with Washington D.C.," Colbert said in his opening monologue. "I guarantee there is not one person, not one voter of any political stripe anywhere in America, who asked for this."

Unfortunately there's not a ton you can do to shield yourself from the ISP fuckery, but a good start is to do some research on grabbing yourself a VPN (though probably not a free one). Also, get more into Mr. Robot.
