Gaza isn’t exactly the most tourist friendly destination on the planet, but hardcore haircut enthusiasts suddenly have a reason to consider visiting the volatile Palestinian territory.

Ramadan Odwan is a barber in the region who’s dishing out the hottest cuts in the entire Middle East: Literally. Reuters reports a 37-year-old barber has perfected a method of straightening hair using a blowtorch. Based on the video above, it looks mad dangerous, but Odwan insists his method is perfectly safe.

“I control how long I apply fire, I keep it on and off for 10 seconds or 15 seconds,” Odwan told Reuters. “It is completely safe and I have not encountered any accident since I started it two months ago.”

So when will we see flame-straightening make its way to our neck of the woods? Well, if the response to Odwan’s technique is any indication, U.S. barbers will be biting his style any minute. “People have gone crazy about it, many people are curious to go through the experience and they are not afraid,” Odwan added. “People here love adventures.”

Unfortunately, if Odwan’s U.S. counterparts want to adopt his method, they’re going to have to do their homework. Despite admitting that he uses protective liquid on his customers’ hair before applying the blowtorch, he refused to reveal the nature of its contents.

It looks like we’re going to have to wait before we can get our heads set on fire, too. Come to think of it, that might not be such a bad thing.
