On Monday, in part two of his interview with Bill O'Reilly, Donald Trump told the cable news host that former president Barack Obama "liked him," and backed up that somewhat dubious assertion by saying he "can feel it."
"It’s a very strange phenomenon, we get along," Trump said. "I don’t know if he’ll admit this, but he likes me. I like him.” When asked by the host on how he knows if his predecessor "likes him," Trump answered simply "I can feel it. That’s what I do in life. It’s called, like, ‘I understand.’”
For those of you who have followed their relationship this may be difficult to believe, considering that Obama was on the receiving end of unsubstantiated (and extremely public) birther claims from Trump that would've embarrassed a person that could actually be embarrassed. Still, Trump said that the past rhetoric between the two men could be chalked up to politics, and that there were no lingering hard feelings between either party, even after Obama (in Trump's words) campaigned harder than Hillary did during this past presidential election.
"We had a rough campaign. He was vicious during the campaign toward me, and I was vicious towards him," Trump said, seemingly without acknowledging all the stuff he had already said about Obama prior to the campaign. "We said horrible things to each other, and then we hop into the car and we drive down Pennsylvania Avenue together, we don’t even talk about it. Politics is amazing."
