Vice President Joe Biden says he's in as a presidential candidate for 2020. Is it because he will miss the White House? He wants to redeem his chance to run against Donald Trump (assuming, heaven forbid, the Donald wishes to run again in four years)? It seems Biden might not even know for sure why, as he declared his run to a small group of reporters on Monday, but said he wasn't necessarily fully "committed" to the idea of a campaign.

Biden said Monday that he plans to run in 2020, and clarified he'd go for the presidency after a reporter asked which office he'd seek. In classic Biden fashion (charming but not necessarily totally coherent), the vice president said, "Yeah, I am. I am going to run in 2020... For president. And also, you know so, what the hell man, anyway," CNBC reports.

"I’m not committing not to run. I’m not committed to anything," the vice president added, not exactly making his intentions any clearer. "I learned a long time ago, fate has a strange way of intervening."

What the hell man, indeed.

Reactions to his "announcement" across Twitter played at the "Uncle Joe" and loose-cannon memes that have more or less defined Biden's public appearance in recent months.

Biden had seriously considered running for president in the 2016 election, but opted not to campaign after his son died of cancer in May. Many were disappointed in Biden's decision not run (despite the vice president's many gaffes over the last eight years, he's been pretty popular among the general public over the last year).

In any case, there's at least some chance that Vice President Biden will seek to challenge the Republicans in 2020. Something to remember during the next four years, which are sure to feel like long ones.
