Shortly before noon, Sheriff Mike Williams went live on the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office's Facebook:

He said that, during the standoff, the suspect was putting his gun to the back of hostages' heads and threatening to kill them.

Sheriff Mike Williams: Suspect threatened to kill hostages multiple times, put gun to head of hostages several times.

Two other people, whom the suspect didn't know about, were hiding inside the bank. They fled, which distracted the suspect and allowed the SWAT team to move in.

JSO: 2 ppl hiding inside bank unknown to suspect, those 2 ppl tried to escape, that distracted suspect & that's when SWAT entered @FCN2go

The suspect, who also was uninjured, has been identified as Deandre Schuman, a black male in his late 20s or early 30s. He's facing multiple charges.

Sheriff Mike Williams: Those taken hostage remain "shaken up." Adds: "They've got a legitimate reason to be shaken up."

The hostages, who are all safe, are understandably shaken up:

A Sheriff's Office official told WJXT during the standoff: "The suspect who tried to rob the bank is contained inside the bank. We know multiple people are inside the bank but we haven't been able to verify if someone has been shot."

The Sheriff's Office went on Periscope to provide the basic details during the standoff, and also asked the media to not show SWAT officers and where they're going, for safety reasons.
