Twitter verification isn't only for the rich and famous anymore. And you don't have to have millions of followers on the social media to get the special check next to your handle either. Now, Twitter recently made it a whole lot easier for the regular folks out there to be poppin' online just like Kanye West.
For all the tweeters who have been longing for that instant rise to internet stardom, you only have to adjust a few key things to get verified—and it doesn't just include tweeting more. If you have a bio, phone number, profile pic, birthday, website, and an account that isn't set to private, there's a possibility you could be the next verified account. If you've fulfilled all of these requirements, you can then submit a request form. And then play the waiting game.
The Twitter team reportedly approves accounts that fall under career paths in music, acting, fashion, government, politics, religion, journalism, media, sports, business, and other high-profile industries. So if your account falls into any of those categories, you most likely have a good shot at Twitter royalty.
Prior to the new system, verified accounts only came to public figures who had a significantly high number of followers and tweets. But the social platform has opened up to the idea of making it more inclusive and accessible as a way for influencers to connect with their audeinces. "We want to make it even easier for people to find creators and influencers on Twitter so it makes sense for us to let people apply for verification," Tina Bhatnagar, Twitter's Vice President of User Services, said in a statement. "We hope opening up this application process results in more people finding great, high-quality accounts to follow, and for these creators and influencers to connect with a broader audience."
