Clinton and Trump

The FBI brought Hillary Clinton's emails back into the news last week, as the presidential campaign hits the home stretch. The Clinton campaign wasn't happy about it, and even some staunch conservatives were bothered by the FBI's timing. If the FBI's recent actions seem to be politically motivated, it might be because Clinton is "the antichrist personified to a large swath of FBI personnel," according to a current FBI agent. "The reason why they’re leaking is they’re pro-Trump."

The Guardian's Spencer Ackerman reported that one current FBI agent said of the bureau, "The FBI is Trumpland." Sources said that many in the bureau openly talk about voting for Donald Trump, a presidential candidate who has joked about Clinton being assassinated and who promises to "lock her up." The revelations have many people concerned about what the anti-Clinton sentiment could mean for the FBI if Hillary Clinton is elected.

The hostility towards Clinton reportedly resulted from the FBI's decision in July to not recommend criminal charges against Clinton for her private email server.

The degree of Trump support within the FBI isn't clear, but, according to the Guardian, sources "uniformly stated that Clinton is viewed highly unfavorably."

"There are lots of people who don’t think Trump is qualified, but also believe Clinton is corrupt," one former FBI official said. "What you hear a lot is that it’s a bad choice, between an incompetent and a corrupt politician."

Given that information, the recent leaks about the FBI investigating Hillary Clinton would seem to be politically motivated.

Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) said of the news, "The continued leadership failures at the FBI are another reminder we can’t let intelligence agencies say ‘trust us’ and then give them a blank check to probe into Americans’ lives."
