Micro-video sharing app Vine announced Thursday it will be discontinuing it's mobile app in the months to come. In a statement published Thursday afternoon, Vine said nothing is going to happen today, but it's clear users need to brace for the sad farewell to a favorite video app.
Owned by Twitter, the Vine mobile app is another casualty of Twitter's serious money troubles. News broke Thursday that Twitter was laying off 9 percent of its global staff.
Regarding the end of the Vine app, the statement reassured Vine users that they'll be able to save their videos. "We value you, your Vines, and are going to do this the right way," the statement reads. "You’ll be able to access and download your Vines. We’ll be keeping the website online because we think it’s important to still be able to watch all the incredible Vines that have been made. You will be notified before we make any changes to the app or website."
