With The People v O.J. Simpson and O.J.: Made In America (and a bunch of Emmy wins) bringing the O.J. Simpson trial back into our regular conversation, it was only a matter of time before the media started asking the "hard" questions, like whether Simpson prosecutors Christopher Darden and Marcia Clark smashed. Inquiring minds want to know...apparently. The stars of The People v O.J. Simpson had their own thoughts, as well.

During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Darden finally opened up about his relationship with Marcia Clark, which has been long-rumored to be more than working on the Trial of the Century together, but if you're looking for concrete facts about their situation, prepare to be disappointed.

"We were more than friends," Darden says. "We were inseparable back then." What exactly does that mean, though? Unless one of them gets real, we'll never know; Darden says he "really can't remember the details," but makes sure to point out that they never actually kissed. "I’m not a kisser. Kissing is intimate. Kissing is more intimate than sex."

When asked for one word to describe his relationship with Marcia, Darden used "fire." He elaborated, saying that fire, to him, doesn't mean romantic; "I think fire's passion." It's an interesting take on the term, especially when you figure that Marcia did note in her bookWithout a Doubt, that "Chris Darden and I were closer than lovers. And unless you’ve been through what we went through, you can’t possibly know what that means."

Darden has confirmed that the scene from the seventh episode of The People v. O.J. Simpson, where he and Marcia had an awkward situation in front of her hotel door, was true in his own book, In Contempt. "Much later, we paused at our separate doors, ten feet of papered wall between us. She faced her hotel room door in a trademark Marcia dress, short and black. She looked down toward her shoes. 'I'll see you in the morning,' I said."

What do we gain from all of this cryptic information? One of two things: Either Chris Darden and Marcia Clark got hot and heavy during one "fiery" encounter that didn't involve kissing, or we'll truly never know what went down between these two. Working so long on such a soul-sucking task as a criminal trial can bring people together like nothing else, but that doesn't mean they smashed.
