A Florida man was arrested on Wednesday evening for allegedly throwing his wife to the ground and police reports say the alleged abuse occurred when the couple was arguing about politics. In an interview with The Smoking Gun, 73-year-old Elvia Littman said that she supports Hillary Clinton, while her husband, 78-year-old Lawrence Littman is backing Donald Trump.

Police arrived at the couple's home in Bradenton, Florida, on Wednesday evening after Elvia Littman called 911, according to the police report. The police report indicates that Elvia and Lawrence were having a verbal dispute over politics when the argument turned physical. The police report states that Lawrence first called her "many derogatory names," then grabbed Elvia's wrist, throwing her into a chair in their bedroom. Elvia then left the bedroom for another part of the house, where her husband followed her.

Lawrence then grabbed Elvia by the arm, this time throwing her to the ground. The police report further states that Lawrence claims his wife had attempted to slap him, prompting him to shove her away. According to the police report, Lawrence says that his wife of 20 years slipped and fell to the ground after being shoved.

Police who arrived to the scene noted that they did not find any marks or injuries on Elvia, but the report added that Elvia says she hurt her backside during the incident. The police report states that Lawrence was arrested and taken into police custody with no further incident.

The Smoking Gun further reported that Lawrence was released on a $500 bond and pled not guilty to the charge of battery of a person over 65. Lawrence was ordered not to have any contact with his wife at this time.
