According to NBC News, it appears as though the loud noises that were interpreted as gunshots by those inside of JFK Airport may have actually been people "clapping and banging" while watching Usain Bolt’s 100-meter race at the Rio Olympics. All flight operations at JFK have returned to normal as of Monday morning.
