As we continue to try and make sense of the horrific events that befell our nation last week, the Black Lives Matter movement has ramped up their work, with numerous protests popping up in cities across the country. While, in theory, this feels like right thing to do, are the protests actually effecting any change?

Unfortunately, we've been here before. We saw people protest the deaths of Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Freddie Gray and many others over the years and yet we continue to hear news about the deaths of Black Americans at the hands of police. So why do we still gather? Why do we hit the streets with homemade signs demanding justice and equality? Complex News hit the grounds in downtown Los Angeles for a Black Lives Matter protest to ask those questions and dive further into what the movement fully represents. Watch it all in the video above.
