A New York fugitive is finally serving a prison sentence for stabbing a man at a night club after fleeing the country and taunting prosecutors on Instagram for months.

According to a statement to Complex from Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark, 25-year-old Ronald DeJesus Plaza escaped while on bail on December 7, 2015 after a two-week trial. He had been arrested for attacking a stranger leaving a nightclub early in the morning of June 12, 2014. The victim was slashed numerous times and stabbed by an unapprehended accomplice of Plaza. He was treated for a broken nose and received nearly two dozen stitches and staples to his face and head.

Upon escaping, Plaza was charged with first-degree Bail Jumping and sentenced in absentia to 10 years in prison and five years of post-release supervision. He eluded officials for months, sharing his lavish lifestyle on Instagram while on the lam. He frequently blurred out his face in photos as to obscure his identity. One post is seemingly addressed to Assistant District Attorney Karl Miller, the prosecutor in the case, featuring a bottle of rum and the caption, "Salute Mr. Miller, this is a good rum."

Plaza was intercepted by U.S. Marshals upon landing at Los Angeles International Airport last month, according to Clark, and started his 10-year prison sentence on Monday.

"The defendant fled at the end of his trial and was convicted and sentenced in absentia," she said. "He cavalierly posted photos of himself with champagne, a Glock pistol, and driving a Lamborghini. He had even taunted the prosecutor. But he could not escape justice and now he will serve his sentence."
