Just in time for Mother's Day weekend, Deanna Pilling wanted to surprise her daughter, McKenna Pilling, by paying her a visit at college. Innocent enough, right? Wrong. It turns out mom had no idea where her kid lived, and from there things took a turn for the hilarious.

When Deanna arrived to McKenna's school for the fateful surprise last Thursday, she marched directly to what she thought was her daughter's dorm room, and laid down in bed to send a surprise selfie a quick text message to her daughter.

As it very quickly became clear, Deanna ended up in someone else's dorm room and was snapping photos in the bed of a complete stranger. Pilling posted a screencap of the exchange with her mom to Twitter, and the tweet has since gone viral. As of Tuesday morning, it was re-tweeted 16,000 times and received 35,000 likes.

In a message to Complex, McKenna said her mom "has always been funny like this ... Just typical forgetful mom things!" She and her mom totally forgot about the tweet until it started blowing up, she said. McKenna added that her "family thinks it's hilarious, and keep teasing us that we're famous now."

Given how popular the tweet has become, it would appear that plenty of people can relate to a mom who really loves their kid, but doesn't always hit the nail on the head. We can dig it.
