Robberies that revolve around food qualify as crimes of passion, for example the burger burglar who broke into Five Guys and got cookin' or the father-son team that stole $41,000 worth of wings. But this dude, who knows what he was thinking. Uproxxreports a teen in Arkansas was charged with a felony after filling his McDonald's water cup with soda.

According toUproxx, which citesEater, the crime went down in Springdale, Ark. The aforementioned teen, 18-year-old Cody Morris, and his two friends failed to pull off what probably everyone has been guilty of doing at least once in their lives: asking for a free water cup so you can refill it with soda or your drink of choice.

Morris and company ordered three waters in the McDonald's drive-thru, Eaterreports adding that they were "large waters," before heading inside the McDonald's to swap the water for soda. Of course they didn't expect a manager to 1. Catch them 2. Call the police to report a robbery over some stolen sodas. Was the manager bored because really what else could happen in Arkansas? Maybe.

Eaterreports Morris' friends returned the soda. Morris up and left with the soda and chose to try to run over the manager.

Citing police Eaterreports Morris "hit the manager twice with his car when the man tried to block his escape." He was later busted and charged with felony robbery when his car was found parked outside a bowling alley nearby, Uproxxreports. Morris has since been released on $2,500 bond according toEater.

If this was about not being able to afford soda, we've all known that struggle, perhaps resorting to using a clay pot souvenir from Mexico to snag soda at Taco Bell one time. That being said, attempting to run people over just for soda crosses the line.

That was one expensive free soda.
