Remember that time Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán escaped from a maximum security prison? Crazy. Remember the second time El Chapoescaped from prison? Even crazier, and not just because his eventual recapture coincided with an explosiveRolling Stone cover story that somehow managed to involve Sean Penn and Kate del Castillo before being outright decried by Penn himself as an abject failure.

In another compelling turn of events following El Chapo's latest bust, the Hollywood Reporter says that authorities in Mexico have now "ordered" that Kate del Castillo be tracked down and brought in for questioning. Though the actress has not been formally accused of any crimes, authorities reportedly put out the order following del Castillo's failure to show up and give a statement voluntarily.

Investigators are currently digging into possible money laundering activities involving El Chapo and a tequila company owned by del Castillo, though specifics regarding that suspicion were not made immediately available. The order, THR notes, only applies to Mexican territories.

Transcripts of alleged text messages between the two, unearthed by Milenio in January and confirmed by federal officials shortly after, revealed that El Chapo was far more interested in getting to know Kate del Castillo than getting a proper biopic on the fast track to production. Sadly, these same text messages also reveal that El Chapo wasn't exactly the most studied fan of Sean Penn's cinematic career.
